I get SVG files as expected on 28.4.1

Can you share your exact version and OS, and an example of what you're exporting with a screenshot of your Export for Screens window?

Hello @Pamplemuss,

Sorry to hear about your experience. Would you mind checking if Illustrator behaves this way with all files? If yes, kindly try running Illustrator under a different administrator account (Windows / macOS) and checking if it helps.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,
Anubhav

Hi,

No, it successfully  renders PNG. But not svg.  Switching account didn't make changes.

What else can I try ?

Hello @Pamplemuss,

Thanks for sharing the details. Would you mind sharing some more details, like a public link to a sample file after uploading it to Dropbox/Google Drive/etc. and a screen recording of the exact workflow and the problem (https://adobe.ly/4beedl2), so we can investigate this further?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav

Hi, a similar report has been made at Uservoice. It would be helpful if you would vote and comment there with the exact details of your situation.

What did you drag to the asset export panel. You may have some offending element in the appearance palette format nested symbol to we can only guess.

Try a test by drawing  a new simple rectangle fill white stroke black.  If that works tell us about your asset construcion and a screenshot as Doug requested.
