Auto import via flow??

I'd like to set up a work flow where I can get my stakeholders to input text and images (in a folder, dropbox or other) and these are automatically uploaded into a template I've created in Illustrator. 

Is this possible?

Maybe with some third-party software or script.

You will probably need to hire a programmer to help you with that workflow.

You could do a data merge with variables in Illustrator.

InDesign data merge is a better option.

Adding to this a reinforcement, Indesign is the tool for this. Illustrator is really to make assets to be placed into things, like Indesign (and every other web/video/print layout platform/app that can use vector, excluding saved/exported svg/img formats).

Illustrator will make a bigger file than Indesign which can be problematic noty to mention all the document layout options Indesign has.

But I digress, Illustrator is fine for this if it's all you have and the PDF template option I mentioned above is a decent solution I've used.

An alternative is to create a PDF from your template and then make that a template, allowing your stakeholders to edit the text and swap the images.
