Basic Question: Shortcut keys for the outline path feature

Contributor ,

The shortcut keys for the offset path are Command + <, but really the < is a filled in left facing triangle. I've tried the <, > and the two left and right arrows in the lower right section of my keyboard, but the software seems to be looking for something else. Please help?

Did you assign those shortcuts?

The Command + <| keys were apparently defaults, but I can't find the weird symbol. I use the offset path all of the time so it would be worthwhile for me to use a shortcut. I don't do any 3D, so maybe I can take one of the shortcuts from that section. Please look at your program and see if you can identify the symbol...?

There are no default shortcuts for those options, at least in the English version of Illustrator. Can you show a screenshot of your shortcuts window?

This is what I see. I don't believe I loaded the shortcut, but possibly Astute adds it when I loaded their add-on software? I can't find that left facing closed triangle on my keyboard.

Thanks for the follow-ups.

I don't think it's Astute, because then I would have it as well.

That arrow could be the arrow key (cursor key).

Anyway: you cannot change it in Edit shortcuts?

Monika, I looked for Offset Path shortcut, but didn't see it. It should have been in the Path list above? If you can find it in another section, please let me know. The Offset Path action seems to be working. I replaced the Skew (S) with the Smooth Tool, which is also working. I use that far more often than skew.

Should be further up in that list.

I asked several related questions here and received some helpful advice and information. The actions option is going to do the trick. When I recorded the Offset Path action, I filled in a .05 offset. The software wouldn't let me stop the action until I accepted the value. In Button mode, every shape would get the .05 path offset. When not in button mode, if I click the arrow to run the action, which also applied the .05 outline on the path. However, if I expand the action to see the first and only command, I can double click it and see the dialog box to be able to change the offset amount.

Thanks again,

MJ
