I am looking at building a high end computer for doing big graphics in illustrator, I am wondering which GPU would be best suited for this. I know adobe posts a full list of support GPUs but i would like to know what one would give me the best performance, AMD or Nvidia? Geforce or quadro? thanks in advance.

    Not an answer, another question!

Does anybody has experiences with the GeForce GTX 1070 compared to the Quadro M4000?

Which one is better for Illustrator and the Adobe big three but mainly Illustrator CC2017?

    It's NOT in Games. It's meant as a Working-Station.

    I found this comparison:

    https://www.game-debate.com/gpu/index.php?gid=3505&gid2=3413&compare=geforce-gtx-1070-vs-quadro-m4000

But of course working on Illustrator on a daily base is something different.

Is there any possibility in AI to measure performance?

What about the 12 Bit Color-Support? (Photoshop is intended)

I thought every newer GPU is supporting a higher Color-Mode?

It is my understanding that in order to get 10bit color, you will have to use a Quadro card not a GeForce card in conjunction with a 10bit capable monitor.

Also, there is another thread here where some people are experiencing slow downs with nVidia cards and Windows 10:

    Illustrator slows down pc

where the solution that was suggested was to turn off GPU acceleration

If you are building a desktop and looking to invest then I would go for a high end NVIDIA M4000/M5000

The M6000 is very pricey it jumps by around £3,000.

Would this get much higher performance over something like a AMD 380?

You “likely” wouldn’t see a noticeable difference between the two cards. What you would also need to consider is what else you’re doing on your computer. The Quadro line of cards is great if you’re also doing things that require a ton of intensive math functions. Generally this is CAD, 3D rendering, architecture, etc. So if you’re also doing any of these then the Quadro would be a good purchase.

If you’re not needing something that also does this type of work, and you’re really wanting more performance in Illustrator or do any gaming, then the AMD, or an nvidia GTX 9xx series card, will likely get you some better performance at a fraction of the cost.

I know you came here looking for some suggestions, but you’ll have to see if you can find anything online that possibly gives any indication regarding performance information of Illustrator with different graphics cards you would consider getting. Illustrator isn’t exactly an application that people would use for GPU testing, so tracking down this type of review may not be that fruitful
