best practice to enhance technical drawing with illustrator

Good morning everyone, for work I have to process a series of Autocad drawings with Illustrator.
normally I open the DWG file and try to understand what to emphasize with thicker lines or enlargements.
I would like to know if you are aware of good practices or manuals that teach how to best carry out this type of work.
