Question

Blend Tool - adjust its elements

Hello, I'm confused with the blend tool here -- I want to create the lines with the same direction (straight  from right to left) but the whole blend shoud be curved.

Like it this picture on the left.

I tried blend with Replace spine, I applied the Free transform - but it's not right (picture on the right)

Can you advise, please?

Pamplemuss,

The angle between the lines and the edges they follow is varying, and differently along different parts of the horn, in some parts a mixture of being horizontal and following the edge and, so if you wish to make something close to the original, some adaptation will be needed.

You can work with different angles (in addition to different lengths) of the lines that each blend is made from, such as a positive angle (counterclockwise) of the bottom line in the blend shown to the left in your screenshot.

In order to avoid or at least reduce irregularities as the ones to the right in your screenshot, you can increase the number of segments in your spine path; in the Object dropdown you can use Path>Add Anchor Points a number of times and see how much you can improve that way.

You can also create the blend between more than two lines to have different tranformations along one and the same blend.

It's an option in the blend options: https://youtu.be/LXJH_xN1VIA

Hi, Thanks ! Not really, because I can't curve the blend keeping the same direction of the object:

I'm looking for the option to make this :

Thank you again, looking forward  to find a solution!

Hello @Pamplemuss,

It looks like you’re trying to create a blend that follows a curve while keeping the lines straight, similar to the example on the left. Here’s how you can achieve this:
  1. Create Your Lines: Start by creating the straight lines you want to blend. Make sure they are parallel and aligned in the direction you desire.
  2. Blend the Lines: Select both lines and go to Object > Blend > Make to create the blend.
  3. Create a Path for the Blend to Follow: Draw the curved path that you want your blend to follow. This could be done using the Pen Tool (P).
  4. Replace Spine: With the blend and the path selected, go to Object > Blend > Replace Spine. This will make the blend follow the curved path while keeping the lines straight.
  5. Adjust the Blend Options: If needed, adjust the spacing and orientation by selecting the blend and going to Object > Blend > Blend Options. You might want to set the spacing to “Specified Steps” and the orientation to “Align to Path.”
  6. Fine-Tune with the Direct Selection Tool: Use the Direct Selection Tool (A) to adjust the curve or individual points on the blend if necessary.
This method should give you a result similar to the left image in your example. If you need more detailed steps or encounter any issues, feel free to ask!

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,
Anubhav
