blender tool not working...

help . new adobe illustrator user here!

 

I have created my hearts with the text inside and I am trying to blend three different ones to create one? 

 

I have done the standard searching to figure out what is wrong but I can't click MAKE at all in the blender tool!

I just did but now make is avaliable but is saying 'the selection is not valid for this operation'

When blending groups you have to make sure that the stacking order and hierarchy of those groups matches exactly. I have used your file as an example:
