HI,

I have latest update to Illy. Bounding box was showing up yesterday, but today, not doing so. I have it enabled to show in the program under view-->show bounding box. Don't understand how these little things can take hours to figure out. Driving me crazy. Please help.

The first screen shot is how it used to look:

This is how it looks now:

Please help. Thanks.

How did you get from view 1 to view 2? It looks like view 1 is a different workspace than view 2. Is this correct? Or is it a different version of AI?

    Hi sheana,

From the second screenshot, it looks like you've drawn a line instead of a shape. Lines don't show bounding boxes like a pen stroke or shape does unless you expand the line. You can do this by going to Object > Expand while you have the line selected.

Let us know if you need further assistance!

    Best,

    Wren

The first screenshot is a video from Lynda.com.  The second is my computer screen while in Illustrator.

Apply a width profile to your line then maybe you will also get the bounding box.

What did they tell you to do in the Lynda video?

Edit: Correct that. You won't get a bounding box with a width profile.

The Lynda screenshot has been made with CS5. Yours is the current version. You used a live shape (a line), this didn't exist in CS5. Of course there were lines, but not as live shapes.

The live shape "line" doesn't have a bounding box. You will need to convert it to a simple path in order to get a bounding box.
