Broken mouse wheel / Magic Mouse zoom in Illustrator v27.3

Since the Illustrator update today to v 27.3, the mouse wheel zoom (with Alt key) does not work properly. With a single step, the zoom jumps to a maximum of 64000%. Also, the zoom is not centered on the cursor, but is somewhere off. In addition, the navigator no longer works either, or only very confused. I have now tried it on several Windows computers with 3 different (logitech-) mice and everywhere the same problem. As long as this is not fixed, I will have to switch back to version 27.2 where it works fine.

Hello everyone,

I am writing to provide an update on the issue with the mouse wheel or Magic Mouse zoom not working correctly in Illustrator.

We highly recommend updating to the latest version of Illustrator (v27.3.1), as we have released an update that aims to address this problem. If you still experience issues with the mouse wheel or Magic Mouse zoom after updating, please feel free to reach out to me directly for further assistance.

Best,

Anshul Saini

Yup. Same here, started happening once it got updated today to v27.3. It jumps erratically to 64000% or down to 3.13%. I even tried resetting preferences, but that didn't fix it.

Running it on Win11.

Thanks @3000521 and @sandm4n for your feedback! The behavior is always a bit different for me. The zoom seems to run a bit sideways though. At work, I have now rolled back the update. In the home office I will try it for the time being with Ctrl+Space+mouse button until the problem is fixed. In Photoshop this works fine, but depending on the complexity Illustrator is sometimes a bit overwhelmed for this ... 😉

Hi Ares, thanks for your quick reply. I had already tested that and unfortunately it did not help. The behavior exists only in the very last version from today (v 27.3). I also tried with disabled GPU performance settings and Animated Zoom, but without success. All drivers and updates (including mouse, graphics card and system) are up to date. I was also able to test it with different mice and even different Adobe accounts in the meantime. Everywhere the same. Does anyone else have this problem under Win11 / Ai 27.3?

I also have this issue as of today's update (27.3). Not a problem in past updates. I tried to reset preferences as well and no luck.

Interestingly, this issue ONLY happens if you hold down the Alt key and IMMEDIATELY zoom with the mouse wheel. If you hold down the Alt key for a second, and then zoom with the mouse wheel, it works normally. This becomes frustrating when zooming around an artboard quickly.

I also have a Logitech mouse, not sure if that is a common denominator here

Hi,

Not sure if this is Logitech or Ai bug but I have Marathon Mouse M705 with infinity scroll and when I use alt+scrolling up and down the zoom is mentaly jumping in crazy numbers like from 50% to 400% even when I move the wheel just about 0.1 mm.

Anyone had some issue like this? Thank you.

Some third party input devices just do this.

You might want to report it at: http://illustrator.uservoice.com

as well as to Logitech.
