Buffering during design, please help!!

While I am doing design work, the cursor buffers with the wheel and freezes the screen so I unable to make any more changes and I can't save it. I would be in the middle of drawing I'd I have no choice but to force quit it and it loses all my work that I have done. It has continuously done this for over a week now.

In Preferences, look for scratch disk setup.  Check your HD and do some routine maintence scripts on it ( permissions, defrag, disk check, etc. ).  Try to save often.  Have you setup a database for your files?  Or are they being saved to the "Documents" folder?  Check that to see if it is full.

Yes.  It might be a good idea to get a third party disk utility like Disk Warrior or Disk Tools.  If they are still available for your OS.  If not, just google "disk utilities".  You should get something robust that can defragment and clean system files ( similar to Onyx ).
