[BUG] Export for screens exports pixelated images

I've updated to 28.7.1 and now notice that the Export for Screens function doesn't work correctly. I did change all format settings to 'art optimised', but Illustrator still treats the exports as if I have set it to 'text optimised'. Which results in very pixelated images. When I use Safe for Web (also on art optimised) it exports the artboard as I expect it to be. Nicly anti aliased and not pixelated edges. When I use Export for Screens I get images with pixelated edges. Which is cumbersome as I now have to export each artboard individualy using Safe for Web. You can see the difference in below image (if you expand the view so see it more clearly). On the left the Safe for Web version and on the right the Export for Screens version. You can see in the red text especially how the right version has all pixelated edges around the text. Hoping for a fix in the next update?

Try if exporting Artboards works better. And make sure Art Optimized is checked for anti-aliasing.

Do you export artboards or assets, png or jpeg? Art or Type optimized?

Has this been fixed or recognised as an issue yet?  I still have this same problem.

I need to be able to use the Export feature (it used to work fine) as some documents have 40+ artboards.

I also notice the Right image's corrupt/pixely style issue in 'Save As Web' sometimes, and it can be fixed by just increasing or decreasing the document size by a few pixels.  It's like adobe's anti-aliasing algorythm doesn't know what to do when its stuck between certain sizes/pixels.

Never used to be a problem about 6 months/year ago.

Hi @karloverhere,

Thank you for bringing this up and for your patience as we work through it. It seems like you’ve encountered an issue that has affected several users in the past, and we truly appreciate your continued feedback. The team identifies and fixes many issues every year, so your case could be unique, and we’d love to dive deeper into it.

Ton Frederiks, one of our Community Experts, also shared a helpful UserVoice link about this issue. If you haven’t yet, it’d be great if you could upvote it here: [UserVoice link]—the more voices, the better!

To help us investigate further, could you please share the following:

1. A sample Illustrator file that demonstrates the issue.

2. A screenshot of the export settings you’re using.

3. The exported JPG file that shows the pixelation or corruption.

If possible, please zip all of these files and attach them here so we can forward them to the product team for a more thorough review. With this information, we can work towards a solution tailored to your specific case.

Thank you for your help in resolving this—your input is invaluable to improving everyone's experience.

Best regards,

Anshul
