Can I customize the Illustrator-menu like the Photoshop-menu?

In Photoshop it's easily possible to customize the menu with Edit > Menus. I'd like to do the same in Illustrator but can't find an option like this.

Is there a possibility to customize the menu?

If that's true, it's pretty meager because I don't need to see thousand entries I've never heard before. I would appreciate if Adobe would add an option for menu customization like in Photoshop. If so, I would use Illustrator definitly more often.
