Can I recover unsaved work after a crash

So Illustrator crashed losing my unsaved work, I relaunched and it opened the recovery file with a pop up of missing files. In a moment of stress I clicked cancel on the missing files pop up and it closed the recovery file! Is there any way to get it back?

No. When you close the recovery file, it's gone.

Do you have a backup? Time Machine running?

I have cloud back up but as it crashed before I saved I'm guessing it wont have backed up. Thanks anyway Monika,
