Can no longer "print to pdf" print diaglog box no working correctly

Yes, (as does "save as copy"), but that's not what I want to do.  Everything we create has an .ai file and then a .pdf for printing puposes.  Using save as, creates a problem as it then opens the .pdf in illustrator and too easy to make a correction in the pdf file instead of the native file.  save as a copy is great if it only wouldn't add the word copy to the file.  And I tried other files, it's not just the one in particular I was working on.

I just want it to work the way it has always worked.  It worked 4 or 5 times earlier today. Either something broke or I hit something somewhere to cause the problem but imagine what it might have been.!
