Hey,

I'm trying to add specific glyphs from the glyphs window but its adding the normal letter look instead

the glyph I want and which I can see in that window.

I've try to add that glyph from Charmap in windows and that is working perfect.

When I mark the letter i can see that the correct glyph that i want is mark as well. but when i double click

on that glyph again in illustator its turn back to the normal letter instead.

I'm using the current version of Illustrator.

Thank you,

Barel

Hi Barel,

You are using the Glyphs panel and double-clicking to insert a glyph and it's not working, is that correct?

Is your Type tool clicked in your text frame? What typeface are you using?

Which glyph are you trying to insert with the Glyphs panel? Which typeface is the Glyphs panel set to?

You might want to include a screen shot to help clarify.

Hi Jane and Monica, thank you.

I'm using a font that I made / modified. It's in Hebrew.

In a Font editing software I've put my own shape of letters instead of the font that was there.

As you can see in my screen, I've put a wide letters in the place of special characters.

When I clicked on the glyphs panel its adding a regular type like the first word.

Only when I add the special characters from charmap It's working good like the second.

In previous version of Illustrator, I can't remember wich, Its worked fine.

Hi, Jane-e,

I've change this from middle eastern to adobe mode and its

solved this problem, now I can add and see this special characters. Thank you for solving this!

But now the text goes backwords instead RTL.

I don't work the the Middle Eastern North African (MENA) version, but there are folks here who do. I know bits and pieces such as the Paragraph Composer has to be set to World Ready.

I added the tag "mena" to your first post and "Hebrew" to your title to catch their attention. And probably most people working with the MENA version won't be taking off for the Christmas holidays—my family is arriving in 20 minutes.

Can you set the language in the Character panel? Does that make it go right to left? (Select the text to test it, but it should be applied to styles.)

And you had this working in previous versions, right? So when you get it working again, take good notes on what you did!
