Can't change font in Illustrator

An Internet video shows me how to change font preference in Illustrator, but I can't find 'BasicRGB.ai' in application data.  I'd be grateful if someone will show me where it is.  I am sorry if this has been asked before, but I could not locate the theme in earlier messages.

You need to edit one of the New document profiles. They are in your user folder. Locations of stuff see the link I posted above.

In there you need to edit the Default Character style.

Then save the New document profile. You maybe cannot save to its original location, so save elsewhere and then move there.

Thank you so much for your fast response. I tried that but the files were read-only with no authorization to save them. tried saving them in different location and restarting the appliaction and the laptop itself and still didn't work.

If you still cannot write to that folder, you might need to log in as a different user that has more privileges.
