Can't Click menu buttons

This has happened a few times now.

I currently have my Preferences window open, but all of the sudden I can't click anywhere in the window. i can't cancel or hit ok. i can still click and drag the preferences window around, but can't close it.

This has happened a few times now, and i have to force quit (lose work) and restart.

AI is up to date.

So you use Illustrator, then you have to open Preferences in order to change some setting and then Illustrator does this?

Do you reboot the system regularly?

Which system is it?

Did you already reset the preferences (this will erase your settings)

It's happened on another pop up as well. I forget which one, but any of those dialog boxes where you ahve to hit cancel / ok to exit.
