Can't export as SVG from CC 2018 - it just creates an empty folder called SVG

So this is a pretty big issue for me, since im using illustrator primarily to create vectors for web. Exporting SVGs is a task needed on an hourly basis. There seems to be a bug during export - I've tried all the various exporting methods, all of which just a create an empty folder in the selected location. No actual SVG gets saved anywhere.

Help?

We are able to reproduce it at our end and working on it.

Please refer to the workaround here. Unable to export Artboards as SVG – Adobe Illustrator Feedback

Did you reset preferences after updating?

It seems there are several issues with old preferences files.

You can first try if it actually helps by renaming the folder as described in here: How to set preferences in Illustrator

Hi Monika

Cheers for that. Seems to be working again now - annoyingly i tried a whole bunch of things at once, so im not 100% sure which bit fixed it...

It still creates its own folder called SVG on each export though, which is hugely annoying. Especially if i have an assets folder already and export items into that same folder all day. I need to keep going back and reorganising it back into one folderand deleting the SVG folder that gets created. Not sure why they changed this - it worked so smoothly before

Turn off the "Create Subfolders" option.

It is in the Export for screens dialog and in the Asset Export panel fly-out menu.

How did I miss that!? Legend

Wonder why they switched it back on by default when all my other preferences were saved!??

Anyway, sorted now. Cheers

Good to hear that helped.

They did not turn it back on, it is a new feature.

Open Illustrator and check the About Illustrator box.

If it's not 22.0.2 then try and update it.

I don't think there's an update for 22.0.2, I've tried all of your solutions but only see 22.0.1 available

See the link at the top in the correct answer.

The  Illustrator update to 22.0.2 is only available at the Prerelease site.

You will need to join the prerelease to get access:

Hi all!

I solved this issue by dezinstalling all creative cloud and reinstalling it including Adobe programs.

So I still have Adobe Illustrator 22.0.1 but saving SVG files DOES REALLY WORK now... which is weird

What worked for me: I had a white-space in the Suffix name... clearing this succesfully exported the SVGs... Exporting PNGs was fine regardless.
