Question

Can't export Logo as PNG

Hi there. I recently created a logo using Adobe Illustrator. This involved doing a rough sketch of the logo in a sketchbook, taking a picture of it, importing the picture into Illustrator, and then digitally tracing over the sketch using the pen tool. After I was done, I saved a copy of the file, deleted the layer that contained the photograph in the duplicate file, and flattened the image (a lot of layers were used to digitally trace over the photograph). When I tried to create a PNG file of the document (and designate my flash drive as the saving point for the file), I received a message that read "Can't save the Illustration. .278." I would like to please know what this means, and what the solution is towards saving my logo as a PNG file. Also, please let me know if I need to be more specific. Thank you for your time.

Where are you saving?

Are user privileges set up correctly?

Is that a server?

Are you logged into your system as Admin?

Is there a print installed and correctly set up?

You may want to try to rename your file or just copy and paste into a new file. Also try saving as a pdf.

To save a png. you can go to File>Export>Export for Screens

Thank you for the prompt response.

When I saved my file as a PDF, there were no issues subsequently saving it as a PNG, so long as I did so on my iCloud (I was informed I was out of room on my flash drive to perform this function). This was a bit peculiar, since the size of the PNG file was about 961 KB, and I know I have more room than that on my flash drive. Are there other factors, outside of memory, to consider in this kind of situation?

I hope you don't mind if I ask additional questions.

1. You asked where I was saving. What kinds of considerations are there when saving on a flash drive and saving on iCloud? Also, I didn't fully understand what you meant when I was asked where I was saving. What kinds of options are there?

2. How do I clarify my privileges, and what are privileges exactly?

3. "Is that a server?" I'm afraid I do not understand the question. What was meant when I was asked if I had a server involved? What did you mean by "server"? If asking if the logo was previously released publicly online, the answer is no, and there is no website at current to display the logo (though it may soon be on a Facebook account).

4. How do I clarify if I am logged into my subscription as the Administrator?

5. "Is there a print installed and correctly set up?" I'm afraid I do not understand the question. What do you mean by this?

6. After creating a PNG file (after converting the Illustrator file to PDF format), will there be issues in the PNG being readable on a separate computer? I ask this because the Illustrator file was created on a Mac, and the recipient will be viewing it on a Windows. I also was asking this because the recipient, in addition to wishing to use the logo on Facebook and eventually a website, wishes to submit the logo to a company that can print it onto T-shirts. Will there be readability issues if the PNG document was originally saved onto my iCloud account (even though the PNG was subsequently shared by e-mail).

I know these are a lot of questions. Part of the reason for asking is that I'm still new to file sharing when it comes to Adobe Illustrator. Thank you once again for your prompt answers previously, and look forward to hearing your response.

Let's make the question simpler. Does this problem happen if you try to save the PNG right to your desktop?
