Can't resize with anchor points anymore

When I select objects in Illustrator, I am no longer able to resize them by dragging the anchor points. The box around the selected object doesn't even appear anymore, so I have to use the resize tool instead. Is there a setting or preference that will give back the ability to resize by dragging?

On Mac it's the same, but Cmd instead of Ctrl.

The command is in View > Show/Hide Bounding box
