Question

Can't save Illustrator (2019) files to network drive!

My adobe illustrator program has crashed at least once daily for the past few weeks. Yes, it is the most updated verison of CC 2019. I've un-installed it/re-installed it, made sure all previous versions are gone.

Now I have a new problem: Whenever I save my adobe illustrator file to our network drive, it takes FOR-EVER to save, and sometimes it doesn't save at all. I have made sure I'm connected to the network and wifi just fine. I even tried saving the file to the desktop, (which saves fine,) but then when I try to move the file to a network folder, I get an error message. (Attached photo)

Hi Craig,

Sorry to hear about this. Though we have a very limited support on Network and VM related issues (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/illustrator/kb/illustrator-support-networks-removable-media.html ) but from personal experience I would suggest you few things which you must check:

  • Check if this is happening with your user account only or with multiple users.
  • Check if there is any antivirus or end point security or if there is any restriction imposed by your IT Team. Due to this sometimes server does not allow to save/ access the files on/from server.
  • This generally happens when network policies or Operating System is updated, check with your IT team for the same.

Let us know if you have any questions, we are happy to assist.

Regards,

Srishti

Tip: focus on the copy from desktop.

1. If you can't do that, you certainly can't save either.

2. If you can't do that, the IT department won't be able to blame Illustrator.

Tip: it is not recommended to save to the network anyway.

Can you save non-Illustrator files to any other parts of your network, or is it just that network location, or just AI files? If it's just AI files, it's very likely a permissions problem, but you want to have your IT department check all this.

You can't even move the file to your network with Windows? The messagesays you have a network error, so you will need to investigate that.
