Can't update data table for pie chart

hi there,

Very new to Illustrator, I'll be sent a template for a pie chart. I'm trying to update the data that drives the pie chart. However, when I select the pie, go to 'object, graph, data' the data table window that appears has no data in there. I know from the my very basic pie chart I had built, I needed to go over to the layers section and select on the areas I wanted to see and it would then unhide/show the data table in the data window which I could update.

Any help? ideas? below is below I have, so hopefully someone can spot what I need to do!! any help would be appreciated!!!
