Cancellation of Adobe Illustrator monthly subscription

I'm trying to cancel my monthly subscription to Adobe Illustrator (in light of new university provided services in the wake of current affairs with the world right now), only to be told about 19 days post-payment that I'm getting charged for the early cancellation fee anyway. I tried doing the same for Indesign, but I get the same message despite it being about 30 days since the last payment, and nothing had been withdrawn (yet ffs). These prices just for cancelling services you don't need are aggregious, but apparently this is the bull I signed on for, was coaxed into signing on for, and am forced to bite, chew and swallow.
