Cannot move patterns

New Here ,
Jul 05, 2022 Jul 05, 2022

Suddenly, my ability to move patterns inside shapes has disappeared.  Three things are happening that I think are related:

1.  Holding tilde does not work.  It only moves the shape around.

2. Copy/pasting or simply moving any shape moves the pattern around inside it.

These are both new developments that were not happening last week.

I tried to work around it by using the numbers in the Transform panel but upon typing any number in and hitting enter, the value suddenly changes, seemingly at random.  This makes it impossible to use this feature.

Any help would be appreciated as I've never encountered this issue befor and my job heavily involves workign with pattern fills.

Hi, I've tried to set it on each; the results of which are:

Transform Object Only  - moves object normally, pattern appears different in the object as the object "reveals" a different piece of the pattern.  I think that's the normal operation for this.

Transform Pattern Only - the object moves, the pattern stays exactly as it was.  That seems out of sorts.

Transform Both - the object moves, the pattern stays exactly as it was.  I'm not sure but I think that's how this setting normally works?

I'm not super fmiliar with what the settigns are supposed to look like because I've never had to change it.  The default settings seem to always work with the tilde.

Did you use the X/Y coordinates to move the object, pattern or both?

Did you try to double click the selection tool to move the object, pattern or both?

As far as I can see it behaves like described here:

If not you may try to reset Preferences (after making a copy):

Thanks.  The X/Y coordnated will move the pattern with Transform pattern only selected.  The dragging with tilde still won't work even after reset.

Dragging with tilde does not give a real time preview here.

Using the arrow keys with tilde works better for fine tuning the position.

Yes that's true but the tilde isn't woring at all.  I can't move patterns within shapes except to use the numbers, which are annoyign because as soon as you've typed in a value you've changed the origin somehow.
