Cannot open Illustrator 27.7 on Mac Monterey 12.6.7.

Multiple attempts to open Illustrator failed. 

.Updated Astute Graphics plugins. No change

.Uninstalled without clearing pref's. No change

.Tried opening New Beta version. No change

.Uninstalled Illustrator and reinstalled. No change

.Closed Google Chrome. No change.

 

Frankly these episodes are so frquent now I rarely open the app and am turning away work...I have a new commision and cannot access the app to complete. What is going on and how do I rectify this unacceptable fault?

Do you have a Wacom installed? If so, that could be a problem.

Are all fonts OK?

Did you run the Cleaner tool between uninstall and reinstall?

Dont have Wacom.

How do I know if all Fonts are OKAY?

What is a cleaner tool and where can I find it?

See Screenshot which explains something but what? Where is BNPlugin located? How do I resolve.

If you didn't install any third party plugins then there is nothing with the plugins that you should do manually.

But as I said in my first draft I have Astute Graphics plugins. I attempted to open AI again and it eventually opened after 35 mins. This is not a new issue for me the extended opening effort was around for the last part of '22 and early part of '23 and I thought taht was all behind me. I will check out the link. Thank you.

Please report this to Astute Graphics and follow their advice. Also: they will sometimes tell you to wait with updating. It is recommended to actually wait in these situations.

Hi followed instructions re clean up lost all my apps. Now reinstalling again with every other programme closed including Chrime/Safari and all other apps. Attempted opening Illustrator at 11:25 now 11:40 still not open with spinning beach all and Force quit saying "app not responding" This is like pulling a tooth. Lost more precious work precious time and am looking at prospect of loosing more work!

Okay they were very helpful but identified the emoji Apple Fonts as a potential issue. Do you know how to delete them? I have had a rather tricky call with Apple and they were emphatic they can't be deleted.

I don't think you can delete the Emoji font. 

What does potential mean in this case? Does Illustrator run now?

Thanks but no & potential means I dont know nor do Adobe nor do apple and both appear to be great at blaming the other...thought it was a symbyotic union? I tink anthropologists should stop studying monkees and come over to the Adobe/Apple forum to study organisational behaviour. So six hours lost today added to the other countless hours suggests acting as a graphic designer is a fate worst than death. I am sure you mean well Monika and we have had spats in the past but honesty is not a tarded commodity on these pages.

You can go back to a previous version like variants of 27.0 or 26.5.3 

In the CC app go to Apps > All Apps

Next to Illustrator you will see 3 dots

Click and select Other Versions

You are not wrong Ton....and your point is "hell sucks". I used to buy egine management software so I have seen the issues with software deveolment first hand and then as now there are lot of vbullshiters out there balgging it for their sake while feeding their employers unable to organise a piss up in a brewery. Would you fly in a plane that hasn't been tested?

I am always cautious with software and OSs. I am still on Big Sur, have 27.7 but also the 2022 version installed.

But 27.7 should work on Montery otherwise there would have been many complaints. There is something wrong with your system, but unfortunately we cannot help you with that.

So I pay £50 monthly to regress? Is that the deal? Sounds like I am the mug. Yep but there are so many out there who forget we are not all tech' savvy it's like an arrogance that pervades this industry. Trust me don't imagine every one is as smart as you (think you) are. There is huge gap in using an app and understanding it. Just tell people the limitations what's the big deal? It would endear more to you. I take my part in this; average Joe tech dimwit slightly better creative but don't kid me because you can't kid a kidder

.Step up Adobe.

.Stop hoodwinking your customers.

.Communicate.

If you bought a car from me and suddenly 1500 miles down the road the brakes failed you would be have my liver for dinner if you haven't died in the resulting crash. Works the same with software.

.I have paid you probably £1500 over the past three years and frankly AI has gone down the pan in the meantime. I'm almost blaming myself 😉 and if this issue is around the un deletable Apple fonts why haven't Adobe found a work around? They appear to have had a considerable time to do so as threads date back to before 2020.  But I get it Ton you are volunteering is that right or are you on a retainer? And you are labelled an expert? Is that an expert at solving these issues by regressing to the past? Please help me understand that psychology....especially at £50 monthly.

Ton this wasn't aimed at you these are generalisations. I apologise though because my post was written in anguish of a myriad of issues with Adobe. Us little independents are their mercy and it feels lonely out here. Thank you for being kind. Gerry
