Cannot open Illustrator files after updating to macOS Catalina Version 10.15

After having updated my iMac with the new macOS Catalina Version 10.15 I am experiencing problems opening my current Adobe Illustrator work files. 

 

The message: 'Could not read the file because an error has occured' appears on todays closed Illustrator work files when I try to open them again.

 

Please help.

    Hi Thomas,

     

    We are so sorry to hear about this issue. This has been reported by a few other users as well and our team is working on it. We need a few more details to investigate this issue further. For example: 

     

    • SPX file from MAC 
      Click on Apple Icon > About this Mac > System Report  
      This will launch the System Profiler 
      Then Click File > Save > Save in Creative Cloud Files 
      Then open www.assets.adobe.com 
      Click on three dots next to spx file > Share > Copy Link and paste it in Private message I just sent you. 

     

    • Could you please confirm if you are using MacBook Pro Touch Bar? If yes, please go to System Preferences > Keyboard and check if you see the Touchbar options? We have noticed that user's who are using MacBook Pro Touch Bar are getting this issue more.

     

     

    All this information will help us investigating this issue and fix it as soon as possible.

    Dear Axel,

     

    The problem has strangely to some extent sought itself out. I can open Illustrator files by double clicking the actual file directly. I still can't open from the launched Illustrator application 'Open Recent Files'.

     

    I'm hoping Adobe will resolve these glitches in the next few weeks.

     

    At the time I approached the online Adobe Support and an Adobe team member telephoned me from San Jose. She was very professional and helpful. She guided me with uploading the video conference app BlueJeans. Strangely when I walked her through the Illustrator file opening problem, the problematic file successfully opened (?)

     

    Anyway, at present I am still working away but in extreme trepidation.

    You have upgraded to Catalina too early. Issues are currently being investigated. No solution available yet. There are already countless threads about it.

    Is it possible to revert to my old mac OS, somehow…

    You can revert to a previous OS version is you use Time Machine for backups.

    I've been working on a project all day and intermitently successfully saving the file.

     

    However after a good 3 hours break I can't open the same file.

     

    Transferring the the same 'packaged' Illustrator file and Links to my MacBook Pro laptop that I have not updated with the new Catalina OS, I can successfully open the same file no problem.

     

    Any suggestions for my iMac – my work horse computer.
