Cannot save file as png Illustrator

Illustrator 27.6.1

Artboard size is 1000 pixels x 1000 pixels. I am creating simple geometric shapes.

I go to export, save as png as am getting the error "the operation cannot complete because of an unkown error. I actually was able to save as png the first file I created today about 10 minutes prior. I did absolutely nothing different and no matter what I try short of reinstalling it won't save as png.

Also the legacy save as is grayed out.

Did you already reboot the system?

Which exact command are you using? There are like 4 ways to export to .png? By legacy do you mean FIle >> Export  >> Save For Web( Legacy)

 What version of OS & Illustrator are you using? Make sure your application and OS are compatible with each other.

Your OOBE might be damaged

OOBE RESET MAC  

1. Quit the Creative Cloud desktop app  (100% you must do this)
2. The \Users\<user folder>\Library\ is hidden by default for macOS 10.7 and above. Option click on the GO in the mac finder to reveal the Library folder.
3. /Users/<user folder>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE
4. Delete all the files within the OOBE folder, but do not delete the folder itself.

You can try resolving this issue by changing the PPI (Pixels Per Inch) setting to 72 and see if it helps!
