Cant cut a letter

I want to disect this letter G at certain points.

But it's making a mess and i don't know why.

I'm using the scissors tool to cut at the highlighted points below.

It's a compound path. You need to release that in Object > Compound path

what are you trying to do?

those weird shapes are the "fill" of the bottom "c" like shape that results after cutting. Removing the fill will get rid of them

here I moved the inner shape a bit to the left
