Question

Catalina, SuperDrive, Illustrator Files on CD

Hi - I have some old Illustrator/Vector files on CDs.  I tried to access them today and my Mac (Catalina) doesn't seem to recognize CDs with Illustrator Files?

In System Preferenences - I can set up what the SuperDrive will do with Blank CDs, Picture CDs, Music CDs, or Movies.   But this CD is filled with Adobe Illustrator Files and nothing happens when I play it.  It doesn't even show up on Finder or Spotlight.

Any tips?

(The CDs are pretty old - but I've used them fine before I upgraded to Catalina)

macOS 10.12 and later does not support the old format, HFS.
Previously available environments are presumed to be version 10.11 or lower.

Then most probably the CD was made using an old file system. You have to find a Catalina driver for those old Mac file systems. I would try to ask on the Apple forums.

CD's can and do go bad. Have you tried viewing them on a different computer?

Also Superdrives go bad too. Have you tried an External CD/DVD drive that connects by USB?
