I created the selected.png shape in photoshop and placed it here. I'm trying to get it's blue to match the blue of the water on the image underneath. I've tried editing the original image in photoshop too. I created a swatch of the darker blue I'm trying to change it to, but can't for the life of me successfully change the color of the selected water body to that swatch color.

Did you take numerical readings in Photoshop of the blue, and edit the .png for to darken the blue.

Shoddy you wish to not mess with coral profiles, you can make this one image in photoshop.

Feel free to post a dropbox link or similar, and will be happy to help.

Don't use  PNG in a CMYK document.

You are mixing RGB and CMYK.

Use a CMYK mode Photoshop document and make sure the Color Settings between Photoshop and Illustrator are the same.

Use the same CMYK color values in Photoshop as in Illustrator and place the Photoshop file.
