It's probably outlined.

Thanks Monika,
I am honestly a novice at all of this. I know the logo I am trying to work with is not clip art, as it was created by a design firm. The video you shared (thank you), seems to focus on clip art type files? I have the actual Illustrator file for the logo as well, but it is not attaching for some reason. Is there an easy way in Illustrator to work with the font of the logo?
Thanks again!

When you mouse over the text in Illustrator, are the letters outlined (colored lines around the letter), or do they have a path (colored line) directly below them? Are you trying to change the font for both of the lines (Highroad and Construction Careers) in the file, or just one?

Hello,
When I mouse over the text in Illustrator, each individual letter has a blue line around the letter. I am just trying to change the font on the top line (Hight Road).
Thank you!

Clip art or AI file doesn't matter. Did you watch the video?

As Monika said, the text is probably outlined. Most logos have outline text. Therefore, it is shapes that look like text, but not real editable text.
The font that was originally used, before it was outlined, is very similar to Bari Sans Extra Light. You could try doing a search for that font, install it on your computer so that you can type any text that you need.

..."thinking I could simply use the Text tool to change the font,"...
As you stated in your posts, you did not create the logo. Unless you have written permission to "change" anything, then do not proceed. Logos are copyright protected and whoever "created" that logo owns the copyright. Even if you were hired to change the logo, you would have to get premission from whoever owns the rights to it. There are circumstances where copyright ownership was sold to the company that uses it and, in such cases, then the company can hire you to change it. Just a note of caution. As stated in the answers so far, the font was converted to outlines and is now considered artwork. You will have to create the new text using your font. Then, you should keep a "live" version with the file still having your font and then create a copy of the file that is also converted to outlines ( converting to outlines resolves conflict with output and / or missing font(s) ).

jdanek makes a good point. You may not have permission to change the logo. Often, if a logo is copyrighted or registered, it will have a copyright or register symbol on it.
