changing the color of the guide changes the weight of the guide

Guest

hi, okay so the issue is that when i change the color of the ruler guides, the different colors show different guide appearances. for example if i choose cyan color guide, then the vertical guide becomes thicker on the artboard. like idk why but the weight of the guide changes and the unusual part is that only the vertical guide changes and that too only the part that is on the artboard. please help fix the issue.

Comparing those screenshots in Photoshop, both lines are 1 pixel thick:

yes you are right. even if you zoom in on the screenshot, they appear to be normal. however my corcern is, why isnt the appearance normal on the illustrator? even if i zoom in on illustrator, the verctical cyan line appears to be thicker.

attached screenshot is when i zoom in on illustartor. it's just irritating to look at and work with. and yes i can just switch to blue color guide and move on, but i wanna know if it's some color or graphics settings that i unintentionally messed with which is making certain colors to sppear different.

I'm not sure what you mean as that is still a 1 pixel wide line.

that's exactly what the issue is? it is a 1 pixel wide vertical line that is appearing thicker than the same 1 pixel wide horizontal line?

If both lines are verifiably 1 pixel, then the problem is not the software.

Bear in mind that different colour combinations can make objects appear different sizes. There may not be an issue to solve.

This could just be your monitor. I noticed in Illustrator on my monitors, depending on how zoomed in or out I am on the artboard, thin 1px lines like guides or strokes can appear to take up more room than they actually do, or appear blurry or slightly misplaced. Same thing can happen with differnt color objects on screen.

Not sure if you're experiencing the same thing or not, but if its not affecting your artwork/prints/etc., you should be fine.

Looks more like something with your particular display than Illustrator. You can try if switching from GPU to CPU preview makes a difference.

As suggested, I will try to see what else could be causing the issue. Thank you for your help.

yaarhamza,

I wonder whether it is the visual appearance, depending on the relation between guide and background colours, maybe especially the degree of contrast.
