Why would the clipping mask option be greyed?

Hi  @hendy_5450,

The option is grayed out when no objects are selected. Ensure you have selected the objects on the artboard where you want to apply the mask. For more information, visit: Clipping Masks in Illustrator.

What kind of object is the top item in your group? If the top object is a e.g. symbol, then the Clipping mask will be greyed.

Thanks for sharing the screen recording. I tried replicating this behavior on my end but could not. Would you mind confirming the OS/Illustrator version and if Illustrator behaves this way with all files?
