clipping path outline is removed when making a clipping mask

How do I keep the top object of a clipping mask (the clipping path) maintain its outline? Every time I make a clipping mask, it gets removed, and I have to go into Layers, make active the clipping path and reapply the outline, manually - any annoying extra few steps.

Thank you. That did the trick. I haven't noticed the drawing modes before, but is saves a few steps.
