Question

Closing Curvature Tool Path in Illustrator 2020 on macOS Catalina?

I’m running Illustrator 2020 on a Mac with Catalina.  I’d like to draw a closed path with the Curvature Tool.  When I bring the cursor back to the starting point, the little circle appears as expected but when I click on the starting point, the curve doesn’t close. If I hover over the anchor point, the cursor changes to a crosshair shape briefly but the Curvature Tool just wants to continue with the curve.

I’ve tried adjusting the selection tolerance and rubber-banding options, but nothing allows me to close the loop as simply as the tutorials portray.  Does anyone have an ideas how I can get the Curvature Tool to perform correctly again?

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. This is unusual after that small circle appears if we click on the starting point which means we are closing the path. Will it be possible for you to share a small video of what exactly happening at your end.

Regards

Please look at this short video.  I’m finding the response is inconsistent, as the video shows.  At this point, I would  like to know if it’s operator error or if there’s something I can set to make it more reliable.

I am running a Wacom tablet (Pen tablet model CTH-680) and its driver is up to date.  A little experimenting with a standard Mac mouse does seem to improve the reliability to close a Curvature Tool path but this is not a 100% solution for me…

Thanks for confirming. Have you tried resetting the preferences for Wacom Tablet to see if that makes a difference?
