It's only happening in Illustrator for me, Photoshop works fine

I've tried turning off the shortcuts in spotlight, makes no difference

Please advice me on the solution, this is incredibly frustrating!

I'm not on High Sierra, I'm still using Sierra, however I'm finding that on my computer, the default OS setting for that keyboard shortcut brings up the Spotlight search field (see attached image). If this is the case for you, you may consider changing your OS setting. I, on the other hand, can click off the Spotlight field, and use the command tab to hold down the mouse key to zoom in and out - AND, I can use my Option key to use the scroll wheel to do so.

Thanks but I did mention in my initial question that I've already tried this

Sorry - I thought you meant the scrollwheel wasn't zooming that way. The only question I'll ask in addition then, is - are you attempting the zoom by moving your mouse up and down, or side to side?

When did you last restart the computer?

    Which system, which version?

Does it work when there's no other application running?
