Color Library - Pop Up when I recolor Artwork

I keep getting a pop up when I'm recoloring artwork that says "A different color with the same name already exists in your document. Please rename this color to use it in this document." I renamed the colors in my Library but it didn't make a difference. Any other suggestions on how to stop this? It pops up constantly and it's driving me crazy!

Thank you

Hi @hellonisee,

That pop-up can definitely get frustrating when you're trying to work efficiently. Illustrator usually shows it when a swatch with the same name already exists in the document but has different color values, so it asks you to rename it to avoid conflicts.

You could try removing or renaming the existing conflicting swatches in the Swatches panel before applying new ones. Also, deselecting 'Preserve Spot Colors' in the Recolor Artwork dialog may help reduce these prompts.

If it continues, could you let us know which version of Illustrator and operating system you're using? A quick screen recording of your full workflow until the prompt appears would really help us understand what's triggering it.

Looking forward to your update!
