Hi, all -

When I open a certain AI file I keep getting the message in the screenshot below. How do I find the conflict and resolve it? Thanks!

Do you want to discard the embedded profile in favour of the working space? Which colour profile do you need?

Doug, hi -

I assume I want to discard the embedded profile in favor of the working space, yes. How do I find which files have the European profile and convert them?

You can see in a file's metadata in something like Bridge. Are you talking about many files or just this one?

I have lots of linked files embedded in this AI file. Is there a way to find which is the culprit without checking them individually? Does AI profide that function?

Did you turn on the checkboxes for Profile Mismatches in your Color Settings?

It should give you options when a mismatch occurs.

Hmm, just checked the boxes. Now it's asking me to choose a color profile and I don't know which to choose. And it's showing me errors, but not telling me which files are responsible...

Your Color Settings seem to be set to a US standard.

If that is the region you work and you open a document without a profile, you could Assign the US web coated profile if that is what your printing process will be using.

In your second example the document has a profile, different from the profile in your color settings. You could keep the profile, it will not change the color values, you can always assign another profile later without converting the values.

Please read about color management, as a start:

It is good to know about color management. It is not easy at first and the links above only scratch the surface.

There are good training videos on LinkedIn like: https://www.linkedin.com/learning/indesign-color-management/color-management-fundamentals
