Como combinar una forma con texto

Hola! Quiero hacer como unas bolas de Navidad con el texto en el centro y que quede unida al contorno de la bola para luego recortarla con el láser, pero no consigo hacerlo.. cuando tengo las dos circumferencias y le doy a unir con el texto, la circumferencia de dentro desaparece... A ver si alguien puede ayudarme.

First select the two circles and Object > Compound path > Make

Then Click on Unite in the Pathfinder panel (top left)

You can just draw those stars on top, select them and that already existing design and again click on Unite.

Si, eso ya lo hice pero entonces pierde una parte de dibujo la estrella y me gustaría mantener la forma entera. No sé si me explico..

In that case use the Pathfinder Trim (bottom row, second from the left)

It will cut the shapes, but leave the stars intact.

Attention: it will create invisible shapes that you need to delete.
