I am currently working on an image i turned into a vector to laser engrave but when i expand the image there are thousands of lines and i have no idea how to clean it up. everything i try fails. please help!

You cannot engrave in color.

So you first might want to get this to black and white in an image editing application.

When in the Image Trace panel, you can change the number of Paths to a low percentage.

After Expanding you can use Object > Path > Simplify

But the best control you have is using the Pen tool to trace the image.

    its my stepsons graduation from Ft Jackson im trying to engrave on a tumbler.....not trying to be perfect but i just cant clean it up
