Constraint not woking in Illustrator Beta 29.5

Hello.

Since upgrading to v29.5 Beta, Illustrator is not allowing me to constrain proportions when scaling. I have tried the old trick of deleting Preferences and rebooting, but that doesn't work anymore. Is anyone else having a similar issue? Any advice on how to remedy this?

Thanks so much!

I'm also having this problem. Illustrator 29.4 works just fine, but Beta 29.5 will not allow me to constrain proportions. Chain link button is activated, all preferences indicate proportions should be constrained while holding shift, I have restarted both the app and the computer (MacBook Pro on Sonoma 14.5) multiple times. I have switched back to Illustrator 29.4 for the time being until the bug is resolved.

OK, this confirms I'm not crazy. I didn't know I could choose which version to install, but I will go back to 29.4 now. Thank you!

Hello @billgutsky,

Could you share more details, like the version of the OS and confirm if you're using the Shift modifier when scaling, along with a small screen recording of the problem, so I can better assist you?

Also, try running Illustrator under Safe Mode (Windows / macOS) and share your observations.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hello Anubhav,

Please note this only happens in AI BETA. In regular Illustrator 2025, I can use SHIFT when transforming objects and the proportions are constrained.

Please note I am using a MAC, OS 14.6.1.

I have attached a screen record. 1st half is using SCALE tool + Shift to scale and constrain. 2nd half is SHIFT + Drag and move to try to constrain but as you can see if does not. I am not sure what 'shift modifier' is, unfortunately.

Thank you,

Joe

Seems like a problem in the beta with placed objects. You may want to report it here:
