Advice needed. I have a client that needs part of their logo to be enlarged for signage, but they only have this '+' symbol as a photoshop file (all on one layer). I can live trace the outline which is fine, but is there a way to get the green paint strokes exactly as they appear as vector?

thanks in advance.

It's a fair bit of work either way... You could use multiple live traces...

I.e. duplicate the imported PSD before committing a live trace.

BUT - the more sneaky method would be to go back into PSD.. And start dividing the image up into separate layers and make sure the resolution is good (300 ppi 1000x1000). Keep the original layer though as well.. Just copy and paste bits of it onto separate layers.

The reason being is that this way you can live trace sections as well as the image as a whole in an attempt to get the brush strokes vectored and looking as similar to the original as possible.

However Live Trace isn't perfect and you will need to experiment with the live trace settings... Maybe using a combination of Live trace methods before re-applying the original colours...

There is no guarantee however that you won't need to grab a modified brush tool and manually recreate the strokes as vectors.

From the look of it a few custom bristle brushes will be needed...

You also will probably have to use some gradients and LivePaint here to capture the mix of colours

Unfortunately as I said - there is no quick fix...

Best,
