Copy and Pasting Color Changes in Illustrator

Hello,

I am seeing an issue in Illustrator where I have created a graphic in one document and upon copying and pasting into a new document, the color becomes dull. I can confirm that both documents are using the same color settings and modes and I am not using Pantones. Screenshots attached, the bright one is the original and the duller one is how it the graphic appears after pasting into a new document. Is this an issue with clipping masks? Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance.

What is your Document Color Profile?

You can check it in Edit > Assign Profile or at the bottom of your window.

Make sure that both files are RGB.

It is possible that one file is RGB and the other one is CMYK.

CMYK typically has less saturated colors.

THANK YOU!! Both color modes were set to RGB but for some reason opening a new document had the color profile set to display instead of working RGB. You're a lifesaver 🙂

Good to hear that helped. Opening an image or drag and drop images can change the document color profile to the one of the image.
