copy and pasting text from Illustrator is not working

I'm selecting and copying text from an Illustrator file (up to date CC versions of both) and it's pasting the text as some sort of grouping in Indesign. I used to copy/paste text from one adobe program to another ALL THE TIME and suddenly, it does this? November 2023

Looks like you have something running that interferes with the clipboard.

Try to paste it in a text frame.
