Question

Copying Excel box and whisker charts into Illustrator

Hello,

For some reason i'm having issues copying excel box and whisker diagrams into illustrator, despite the fact i've done it in the past without issue. I try to copy and paste the graphs, clipping mask - release mask (Alt - Ctrl - 7) (which works still with scatter graphs) but it does not work.

It seems for some reason the box and whisker graphs now paste as images and not graphs, however i don't know how to change this. Any help is appreciated,

Thanks, Theo.

Can you show screenshots of that chart type?

Can you export them as PDF from Excel and then open in Illustrator?

I don't see any option to export as anything but a chart template

Thank you.

The PDF option is in Save as.

I have just tried this on Mac OS with Illustrator 28.7 and it didn't paste any pixels. But Excel is different depending on the system.

Hello @theodore_5205,

We understand that encountering technical issues can be frustrating. Would you mind trying to run Illustrator under Safe Mode (Windows / macOS) and checking if it helps? Also, try running Illustrator under a different administrator account (Windows / macOS) and share your observations.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav

I don't have another account to run illustrator on, and both excel and illustrator failed to launch on safe mode.

Hello @theodore_5205,

Thanks for confirming. Could you try closing all other applications, disabling any plugins/clipboard managers (if any), and then retrying the copy from Excel to Illustrator, sharing your observations?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav
