I have multiple layers in a document with objects aligned betweent the layers.

How can I copy these layers into another document and have the layers remain separate and have the objects still aligned?

In Photoshop I can can just drag layers. So simple.

I know I can copy and paste all items on layers between Illustrator documents, but the alignment does not remain from the original doucment.

Is there some magic way to get layers between doucments?

Also, make sure you Paste using Paste in Place (or Paste in Front/Back, depending on your needs), if you want to maintain the same relative position on the page; as opposed to a simple Paste, which will drop in the middle of the screen view. Your objects will maintain their relative alignment between your layers.

Paste in Place is what I needed. Thanks!
