Question

Corrupted png file from Illustrator

Hi - I'm having an issue with corrupted png files that were exported from Illustrator. If I export from photoshop, it's fine. I have exported from Illustrator a bunch of times, so not sure what the problem is and what to do to correct the problem. Seems like it started with the latest update, but I'm not totally sure of that.  Any help would be appreciated as the extra step of going through Photoshop is a bit annoying.

Thanks!!

This “corrupted” PNG. Are you able to open it in Photoshop OK?  If so, then it’s not corrupted and the web site is likely at fault.

Hi. What exactly do you mean by "corrupted", and what version is this, MacOS or Windows ? (and which OS version)  Which process do you use to export to PNG ? legacy save for web ? export as ? export for screen ? Thank you !

in any case, go get a look at illustrator's uservoice and add yours to any existing issue that looks like yours: https://illustrator.uservoice.com/

Hi. Thanks so much for your response. Corrupted meaning when I try to upload the file to a website I get a message saying that the file is corrupted. This did not use to happen. I have Windows 10.0.18362. I usually export as but have tried export selection as well.

I'll go look at the uservoice. Thank you!

Hi Meredith,

Thanks for reaching out. As suggested by earlier responses if you are able to open these PNG files in Photoshop or any other app, then it could be the website as well. Have you tried a different browser?
Also, Would you be able to share the PNG file with us here(if not sensitive)?

Looking forward to your response.

Regards,

Ashutosh
