Suddendly open new file is not working after a while. When you click on it nothing happens. This problem goes away if you close and restart it, does anyone else have this problem? very annoying as I am using Illustrator all day!

Hi @sueh77503171,
Thanks for sharing the details. Could you confirm which version of Illustrator and OS you're working on? Please try resetting Illustrator preferences after backing them up and see if that resolves the issue: https://adobe.ly/3HvzQUL.
If the problem continues, try renaming the CEP folder to CEP.old from this location: on Mac /Library/Application Support/Adobe, and on Windows C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe. If that doesn't help, also rename the UXP folder to UXP.old from these locations: on Mac /Library/Application Support/Adobe and ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe, and on Windows C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\ and C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe. Illustrator will recreate fresh folders when relaunched.
Give this a try and let me know how it goes.
Looking forward to your update.
Abhishek

I occasionally have a similar experience though, for context, I work on two screens: a MacBook's built-in screen and a much larger external screen.
It generally turns out that, while the main Illustrator window is on the external, the 'New Document' window has found its way to the very bottom of the built-in screen, and its title bar is often obscured by one of the other applications I have open.

Hi @emd1003,
I understand how frustrating that must be. Could you confirm which version of Illustrator and OS you're working on? I'd recommend resetting Illustrator preferences after backing them up and, if the issue continues, try renaming the CEP and UXP folders so that Illustrator rebuilds them fresh when relaunched(steps there in my previous response). Sometimes the New Document window can also appear off-screen if you're using multiple monitors, so it may be worth checking if it's hidden behind another application or partially off the display. If possible, please share a short screen recording of the problem, so I can review it.
Looking forward to your update.
Abhishek
