Creating a Diagonal Line Grid in Illustrator?

Is there an easy way to make a line pattern grid in Illustrator? Like a computer monitor 1px pos/neg grid?

It's super easy in Photoshop, but I need it in this logo I'm making in Illustrator. I can get line patterns done but they're all too spread apart. I tried overlaying lines onto the type and it became a mess.

It's be best if I could just use it as a line pattern and place as a fill, but I can't seem to get the pattern that tight.

Does anybody know how to do this?

Have you tried any of the available pattern fills that ship with AI? There are a number of different libraries which can be applied as fills, all of which can be scaled and rotated to make different patterns.

Ah, I was thinking there should be something. The patterns and symbols panels just showed a few and they weren't remotely close to what I need. I'll use that instead. Thanks guys!
