Creating a Font in Illustrator

New Here ,
Feb 10, 2021 Feb 10, 2021

Why on earth isn't there a way to create a font using the apps in the adobe creative cloud suit. You are telling me that I pay you guys US$60,94 EVERY MONTH to have to pay for a separate plug in to be able to create a font? WHAT?!

Please fix this

Or is there another adope app that can help me to do this?

Regards,

Graphic designer who hates paying adobe every month to still not get the services I need.

Jamie,

There is this for CC,

http://www.fontself.com/

or you can aim higher with Fontographer, or FontLab,

https://www.fontlab.com/font-editor/fontographer/

You are correct, there is nothing in CC to do this specialist, and highly skilled task. It is best left to specialist developers who could provide the specialist support needed.

Sorry you feel like this. The apps provided do exactly what they say they do. Millions of people all over the world use them to their advantage and create a living from them.

I would recommend what others have mentioned http://www.fontself.com/ it is a plugin to Adobe Illustrator.

As others have also mentioned you can also use Fontographer, or FontLab,

https://www.fontlab.com/font-editor/fontographer/

If you are into making your own fonts then you need the tools that say they make fonts.
Let me know how you get along and if you start to sell your fonts please keep us posted as we might buy them.

Sorry, but your voice on this is similar to an aircraft person berating Illustrator for not having airplane-specific drawing tools that do all things airplane.

You are free to draw your own font and use dragging around and stuff like symbols to make your own text.

Past that, you can use FontSelf, a program made my font people for font people with probably a team effort that could not be outdone by some great stress on Adobe like hiring a bunch of font-making-people and staff a font-software department.

Please, look at it this way, if Adobe had put on font-making, you'd be messaging 100's of times about the problems with it. The FontSelf folks dedicate their time to this specialized usage, so they can quickly make their one feature as best as it can be.

What kind of plug-in is Adobe talking about to create you're own font?

Who knows? What an absurd page.

My guess would be FontSelf.
